National President, Message

Dr. Raman Kumar

Dear Colleagues and friends

On the behalf of the Academy of Family Physicians of India, it is my great privilege to welcome you all to the FMPC 2019 Bangalore, the 4th National Conference of Family Medicine and Primary Care. It is indeed a matter of happiness and satisfaction for all of us, that there is continued enthusiasm and momentum across India to change how primary care is practiced. In the 40th Anniversary year of Alma Ata Health for All Conference, all practitioners, policy makers, trainees in India are coming together in Bangalore. We have made steady progress towards mainstreaming and establishing the discipline, medical specialty and knowledge domain of family medicine since we organize our first national conference FMPC 2013 in New Delhi.

Though India has made tremendous progress across all sectors including healthcare, the status of primary care is less than satisfactory. Bangalore reminds us of the contrast, showcasing the best of medical facilities that any country in world would aspire for. The epicenter of the technological developments and symbol of IT revolution in India; Bangalore inspires us for a future journey in the sphere of healthcare delivery system India. The theme of the conference "Technology & Innovations For Better Primary Care Delivery" aptly provides us a blue print of our aspirations.

I am sure that our able team and leadership of AFPI Karnataka Chapter will raise the bar in terms conference experience both in academic program as well as social events.

My best wishes for the conference organizers and the delegates.

Dr Raman Kumar
